I think Chambers is trying couple of things ..
a) since he supports Bush he is joining hands and making his stance clear
b) he is building psychology for the whole street and not just the analysts. thus hopefully stock won't suffer much more since it is macroeconomic problem
c) by telling his story, valuations of other networking companies will remain in check which will mean he can keep buying technology, employee attrition will be in check
d) he is telling the truth, imho (look at sunw,orcl,emc)
