Bill -- you said: <How does Japan have a "massive trade superiority versus the US"? I said they have a larger ship-building industry. They also fish far better.>

Every week Americans buy over a billion dollars worth of stuff more than we sell to them -- most of it high tech gear and auto related. Japan is a high tech economy. Japan and the US are integrated economically and technologically. There is very little in the high tech world that can be made without Japanese participation of one kind or another. People who look at the things they buy with a label from an American company often have no idea about who was involved in the manufacture and who owns the intellectual property. Likewise, imports from China, Mexico, Korea, etc. are more likely to come from Japanese firms than from domestic firms in China and Mexico.

This year, the US will import a whopping $400 billion more in goods than it exports. Yet you seem to think that the US has trade superiority with everybody in everything -- it ain't so Bill. But then you never were one for "facts".
