Chambers is wailing and gnashing his teeth because he sees a really loose monetary policy as a necessity for the spigots of investment capital to be turned back on for the telecom wunderkind. I don't envy his struggle against the reality that the B, C and D LECs are all gasping for air as they try to save themselves from a fate like NPNT's recent rude demise. In other words, CSCO's stategy to move upstream from the ISP market to converged telecom providers is going to meet the reality that the ILECs and their crony vendors like NT, LU and ALA are going to be where the bulk of Capex is going to occur over the next dozen quarters at a minimum. In other words, Chambers is probably more accurate, as to CSCO's prospects, now that we are in confessional season than he was last November during the last gasp of the Cheerleading season. But, nontheless, his credibility has been greatly lessened, IMHO.

Don't get me started on how utterly silly these 10 year gonzo Federal surplus projections are beginning to sound. Dubya's got to be at least considering the 'emporer has no clothes' scenario as he heads out into Democratic states and districts to ostensibly sell the tax cut, while really there to sell the GOP apparatus to potential contenders for Republican 2002 Congressional-focus campaigning aid.

L8R, Ray :)
