VANCOUVER, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1997--

- SupraExpress 56e Modem Ranks First in PC Week Labs' Review -

Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq: DIMD), a leader in the Internet multimedia market,
announced today that its SupraExpress 56e modem ranked first in PC Week's intensive lab tests of
56K modems. In the June 4, 1997 issue of the magazine, the SupraExpress 56e was noted as having
"the best combination of fast transfer speeds and connection rates."

PC Week's ratings of 56K modems were primarily based on usability, capability, performance,
interoperability and manageability. Other 56K modems included in the review were from U.S.
Robotics, Inc., Motorola Information Systems Group and Hayes Microcomputer Products, Inc.

"Diamond Multimedia's engineers designed our modems from the ground up to optimize K56flex
performance," said Jim Cady, vice president and general manager of Diamond Multimedia's
Communications Division. "We are very pleased that PC Week has validated our design efforts with
its labs' extensive testing of 56K modems."

"Rockwell is glad to be an integral part of Diamond Multimedia's SupraExpress 56 modems," said
Mike Ziehl, director of product marketing for Rockwell's Multimedia Communications Division.
"This is yet another example of Diamond's commitment to deliver reliable, high-speed solutions to
end-users."
