Let me know what kinds of things you like to do. There are some nice side trips that don't take an arm and a leg. Tracy Arm has scenery as good as Glacier Bay National Park (I'm told). A day trip is in the neighborhood of $100-$150. You can have a nice floatplane or helicopter trip for a few hundred. If you want to see a few grizzly bears, the Forest Service runs an observation area at Pack Creek, which involves a round trip plane trip and you need an FS permit. Let me know in advance if you want to do that because they run out fast. If you just want to cut costs, I can take you around the limited road system here (45 miles end to end) and show you local sights, a few totem poles and beautiful country. If you are lucky we might even see a whale or two. If whales are your game, there are people set up for whale watching. I think it's pretty reasonable. We also have a tram, which happens to be one of the steepest in the world; however, it's pretty short. Gets you about 1,800 feet of elevation, and you can eat at the top or walk trails. There are quite a few trails to walk. Not all are nice. If you are crazy, you can probably get somebody to let you jump off the top of Thunder Mountain with a parawing.
