I watched the entire UConn game tonight as well as the entire Notre Dame contest. I then switched to the local news and forgot all about the third game. Oops.

For those that don't follow the women (which thanks to UConn just about everyone in CT does), Uconn was blown away by Notre Dame at South Bend the first time they met, snapping their 30 game winning streak. Their second meeting was in Storrs with the Big East title on the line. In a thrilling game, with five seconds left, Notre Dame's Ruth Riley, voted player of the year, was on the line to shoot two with her team trailing by one. She missed the first and made the second. UConn decided not to call a timeout and Sue Bird immediately took it up the court and had just enough time to get a shot off right at the buzzer. It went in. The crowd went berserk. It was even more emotional than usual for the team because All-American Senior Shea Ralph had five minutes earlier ended her UConn career with a knee injury (their other Senior All-American player, Svetlana Abrosimova, went down earlier in the year). Their next meeting will be the rubber game. I would think the winner will likely go on to win the national championship but given that SW Missouri State will be playing close to home, you never know.
