Timothy Eckersley's comments are a joke. What is amazing that people can say such silly things and what's more amazing is that people sagely nod in agreement.

Which CDMA operator of several are regretting their decision to use CDMA? Perhaps he meant some W-CDMA operators are regretting their choice of technology. That would make good sense. Maybe this is his way of saying Nokia has totally blown the 3G business.

CDMA [of the VW-40 version] certainly does have a murky migration path to 3G. GSM to GPRS to EDGE to W-CDMA and the only one to work is GSM. That's serious murk. Nokia's CDMA is a very murky world of FUDD and hopelessness.

He is also right that the W-CDMA world is one of more expensive intellectual property with many greedy paws trying to get a piece of the action.

I'm surprised to see a Nokia person so dismissive of the Nokia CDMA plans. Maybe they have had a dose of truth serum? Anyway, according to Timothy Eckersley, W-CDMA is sounding VERY bad indeed! I guess people should sell Nokia shares quickly before they go down when prospective buyers realize Nokia is flogging a dead horse in W-CDMA.

On the 'efficient GSM spectrum' comment, he seems to be simply confused. Maybe he was misreported.
