I agree with Watsonyouth. If Cyrix was dumb enough to sign an agreement that did not place limits on quantity or pricing of CPU's IBM fabbed, then they deserved to get screwed.

It is amazing to me how short everyone's memories are. 6 years ago Intel had a complete stranglelock on this market. Cyrix designed a large, complicated processor, and needed the best fab facilities to manufacture it competitively. The deal with IBM was a monster breakthrough in the industry.

The arrangement was that IBM would keep half the wafers. Unfortunately, IBM decided to go into a price war with Cyrix and put them out of business. They showed ethics which made Rambus look like a bright beacon.

BTW: If it weren't for Cyrix getting in the door at Compaq in 1996, AMD would be history right now.

Also, why is OK for Watson to use the same language which gets Paul suspended?
