Shaw, My understanding is that Cisco usually reports in the first week of May. Just look at past releases for the numbers. Quarter ends around the end of April and they get out earnings a week later (pretty quick).

I don't think Chambers asked estimates to be cut directly...he rarely does that. Cites risks of slowdown spreading. Here is a story from Monday. I am just wondering if he is really trying to take down expectations so much that they can't miss. Not confident enough to play this long when there are better choices in tech. Don't know if he has some game plan to deal with the stock price---expectations lowered may be a way to do it..setting up for positive surprises later. Don't have any idea.

BTW--I do think that once the carriers start increasing spending on optical and wireless, the networkers will rebound but I have a feeling it will be Nortel and not Cisco that leads the comeback when it happens.
