>>Don't know how easily I can buy CAT in an AmeriTrade account<<

If its like Schwab: You get up early, you call the international line, you wait for 15-30 minutes, you tell them what you want, they scurry off for a while and come back many minutes later with an enormous spread in pounds/pence. Oh, and then you find out the minimum you can buy is $10,000 or something like that. Then you hang up to think twice.

My advice: have your newspaper, latte, banker and currency converter ready before you pick up the phone. Would be interested to know if your experience is better than mine.

Probably obvious to you, it is far preferable for liquidity purposes to own the LSE shares outright. Imagine what would happen if you and I sold our combined 800 OGS ADRs at once. By the way yesterday I was the 13 1/2 bid which went unfilled, damn you!
