"Why does it offend you when homosexuals receive equal rights to heterosexuals?"

It doesn't, and they already do have equal rights. The benefits of being married should be reserved for a man and a woman imo.

"You're hypothetical is comparing apples and bananas"
No it isn't. And you haven't answered the question. I am trying to figure out which individuals you feel deserve the benefits of marriage and which ones don't. It seems like gay sex is part of the equation, but maybe it is not. To me the room mates that have been together for 10 years would have equal status as a gay couple that has been together for 10 years. If it is "apples and bananas" to you that means you view two hetrosexual men that face the same circumstances as two gay men differently. Only difference I can see and what I meant to point out was that these people were the same except for having (or wanting to have) gay sex.

Why do you feel that they should be treated differently? Are you prejudice against hetrosexual males that choose to live out their lives together?

"Remember that a lot of gay couples ARE having kids, through adoption and surrogates"

That is another reason I am against gay marriages. Don't think a gay family raising kids is good for the kids (for the most part). It is good for the parents, and I view that as selfish.
