I understand the difference between macro and micro.....I was hoping you caught that these particular enhancements are multiplied across a wide range of businesses in the economy.

Actually, I think "my" micro productivity enhancement did more to reduce macro production than enhance it. Three or four layers were collapsed out of the production of marketing materials. While the end client gets the same end result (a marketing piece), they pay far less for it. While I get a slightly larger slice of the pie money-wise, I don't get anything near the aggregate of all those services that the client used to pay for, so this results in savings to the end client and increases their bottom line perhaps. (probably then paid out to a consultant LOL) The client might in fact choose to spend the same amount marketing than they did before and just do more of it, but they don't spend it with me and all those other businesses are disappeared or disappearing. I'm next. At the same time other businesses have sprung up. Just about everyone I knew that did paste up now does web work.

I think the added value to the economy of computers is the same as automobiles. What they give, they take back in spades but just try living without them.
