Don, I don't post much anymore. Being newlywed makes a difference. I was also involved in a large overseas project that kept me busy for a while. It also seems to me that the quality of the threads deteriorated with the market bubble. I've never found a thread as useful as the AAPL thread was in the 96-98 timeframe - maybe one or two others. Now most of the posts seem to be a combination of pointless comments, whining and news - that I find easier to get from a news service.

When I said people will wonder what the fuss was about, I was thinking in terms of people concerned with the industry.

Re damage to the buy and hold mentality - I think that was done in the bubble when people developed unrealistic expectations. I think the market is back to reasonably efficient levels which means that there are again some undervalued companies that have the opportunity for future earnings acceleration that is not presently reflected in the price. I also think long term tech trends remain in place so that the bias is towards earnings increases not decreases. I try not to be very concerned with top down, market psychology driven investments - although for a while there you had to play that game I guess. Rich
