News from India from Bloomberg. Mar 27 4:43

paraphrase:

BSN Indias largest fixed lines operator announced a new service that uses QCOM CDMA technology to provide WLL. Service aimed at raising phome pentration from 3 per 100 to 7 per hundred by 2005. State owned BSN which now has 26 million lines will start with 500 mobile connections and 1500 WLL based on CDMA technology.

My take; Penetration going from 3% to 7 % is about 35-40 million lines over next 4 years. 10 million per year. Doubbt that India is producing chips at htis stage, so Q may get the majority of that business. Believe total WLL plus Mobile should go much higher as China already has over 60 mil mobile. Don't beleive India is as urbanized nor has it developed its export economy as rapidly as China other than human capital. How many "made in India" products do you see other than at Pier 1.

BY 2005 my guess is that China could also show 35-40mil CDMA subscribers.
