Maybe. I was one of the first here to say it. Maybe the first. Way back when.
One other "minor" detail is that some claimed that the IBM 6x86s were held to a higher standard and somehow ran cooler.
That didn't help Cyrix either.
It was a cinch that IBM really didn't care about Cyrix.
Even when NSM fabbed the chip it failed, because it wouldn't scale. Something about a short pipeline.
