Thanks for the follow-up.

It does strike me that we aren't all that different from the Europeans of the Sixteenth Century responding to the threat of Plague. We still respond hysterically to situations we don't fully comprehend. Human nature has a certain constancy that we can count on. And one of the constant themes is that the media can be counted on to spread the flames of hysteria, rather than as one would hope, inform the public of real facts. This is why the Internet is so valuable (not to mention distracting). I had no idea that by acquiring a minor understanding of Bangladeshi cattle management, I'd be more clearly informed on the Vermont sheep quarantines.
