My comment was in the remainder of my post.

The Financial Times reporter has no clear idea that: Verizon has chosen CDMA 2000 for 3G. Done.

This is not in any way related to the "path" to 3G in Europe.

Note: Since Europe uses every possible means of avoiding those terrible 4 letters CDMA, he is confused.

UMTS is W-CDMA. CDMA 2000 is not. Verizon has chosen CDMA 2000. Finis.
