It's called base building. >>>> Bebop, that may be, but maybe the base your looking at is a topping base. we had a long eco expansion after wwii that lasted 20-25 years, we are on the ending edge of another eco expansion of similar proportions, just as one piece of bad news after another pummeled long investors after the tops of major economic expansions in the late 20's and the late 60's, i think we will see the same thing over the next several years, during periods of prosperity (if the thread remembers i pointed out the word prosperity was used in every politico's speech in the winter 99/00 like they had a script to enter "prosperity" in every other line -g-) excessess build-up, during the down cycle phase, excesses are punished and cleaned up to lay a foundation for the next up-cycle, during a phase where the crowd has come to the conclusion that cycles are no longer valid, the down cycle may be exacerbated. the last three days rally was a bear market rally imo.
