...In the final analysis, to find conflict between God and Darwin one must do two things. The first is to misunderstand evolution, and the second is to misunderstand religion.
Such twaddle. And it's cute the way the subject is "religion," which can mean incense and tree-worship these days, instead of a kind, good and loving God, which is in fact the concept mooted by acceptance of the cruel processes of evolution.
The absolute conflict is between Darwin and and a postulated God who is omnipotent, omniscient, and beneficent.
This person writes:
All that evolution points out is that every organism that has ever lived will eventually die.
"All" that evolution points out is that? No, evolution points out that individual "organisms" imbued with a capacity to suffer and the instinct to survive, die, one at a time, often in childhood, innocent, and often in agony--and this clown is brushing past that pretty picture with his "all that," and saying, oh, evolution is so very fine a system, let's worship the Guy who thought it up.
The creationists at least had a prettier myth.
Creationists are being deserted in droves by everybody with half a brain, but the deserters, many of them, still want to believe in a kind big daddy SO MUCH that they just massage the vocabulary until they come up with sonorous, obfuscatory twaddle that lets them zone out again. |
