Re; Does anybody yet know exactly how a SDMC works yet?

Steve,

there are two ways they can work. Unsecure and secure.
Unsecure mode, its just unprotected memory, might as well be CF or MMC or memory stick. Just another form-factor.
Secure mode, it uses algorithms (undefined as of now) to protect content (undefined as of now) from vendors (undefined as of now) that may be locked either to a particular computer or SD card(undefined as of now), that was downloaded by a secure method (undefined as of now) and will restrict the playback or access of that content(to an extent undefined as of now). This latter secure method is secure to an extent that is................undefined as of now.

I hope that makes it clear, especially for secure mode.

:-)
