Cats are to land what sharks are to the sea. I like them, big or small, but they are decidedly more predatorial than dogs and when they get in "that" mode are killing machines. When I was a kid, there were what seemed to be millions of cats in the neighborhood and we'd watch them catch mice, rats, etc., hold them with those razor sharp claws, decapitate them with their jaws, and all the while rake their guts out with the cycling claws on their back feet.

Good point about the brain sizes. I don't think that the big cats have any less low level predatorial static in their brains than the small ones, and they certainly have a lot more power to bring to bear when the bloodlust impulse is fired up.
