Thank you so much for posting that, Karen. It's fascinating reading, and frightening to think that there is even a slight chance that it could be amended to include the unborn.

In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, added the words,
'under God,' to the Pledge. The Pledge was now both a patriotic oath and a public
prayer.

Interesting that it is seen as a public prayer by the author of the piece. The "under God" part always irked me when we said the Pledge in school.
