David, re the difference between GSM and CDMA royalty costs, what it comes down to is that if the newer members of the GSM club has must pay additional royalties to the club, plus those to QCOM in order to use WCDMA, they will be undercut by the lower cost royalties for CDMA2000. That's why Nokia keeps claiming in desperation that WCDMA is sufficiently different from CDMA to render any overlapping patents invalid. It would appear that the only way to resolve this issue is through court action, unless the GSM operators see the light beforehand and simply start upgrading to CDMA2000. Art
