I think there's a legitimate issue raised by the EU on the growth hormone issue. However, I don't for a minute discount that the real source of the ban on our imports is in retaliation for our refusal to warmly re-welcome EU beef imports after the mid-90's Mad Cow outbreak.

BTW, I read they are cancelling livestock expositions, etc. in response to F&M risks in this country, talking about 40 mile extermination zones in Wisconsin, and full closure of our borders with Canada and Mexico to livestock trade.

Seems to me it's time to watch the cattle and hog charts for the first whiff of something real to all this panic.
