Kevin:

"Clearly, Bush's plan is flawed. $6 billion this year, $30 billion next year will NOT stimulate the $10 trillion economy in any meaningful way. Demos have come back with a counter proposal; more tax cuts now, less cuts later where the data is much less clear."

This is most sensible. Problem is that REPS have an agenda and lowering overall taxes is a part of it. \but not lowering spending. Despite the fact that they control congress the National Debt has not gone down. The peace dividend and the greatest economy in years meant that we should have had huge surpluses long before now. As of this moment we have no surpluses. I am coming to believe that both parties are phony. Surely, we could have gone a long way toward paying down debt if we had just applied the peace dividend to it. What really happened is that under both dems and Reps government spending has exploded. The dirty little secret is that budget deficits will increase tremendously if the economy drops off evena little bit. They have spent every dollar they could and more.

There are no fiscal conservatives of the party in power.
