Cisco puts acquisitions on hold - FT

Guess thats because there purchasing power is deflated so much now, could cut a little close to the bone using those real *bucks*....<g>

LONDON, March 29 (Reuters) - Cisco Systems Inc (NasdaqNM:CSCO -
news) has put an informal hold on making any more acquisitions because of the drop in the high-tech
market, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.

The FT said the number one maker of networking equipment
for the Internet expected the move to last until the high-tech
market recovered.

Chief Executive John Chambers was quoted as saying it would
be inappropriate to make any further buys ``at a time when
we're reducing our own workforce''.

Cisco, which made 23 acquisitions last year, has not bought a
company since December 14, the paper said.

It said it was the company's longest acquisition pause since the
1998 Asian economic crisis.
