August 1, eh?

Over the past 23 years, I have filed on time once. Usually, I file not by August 15th but by October 15th.

One year, I got screwed by a firm whose name is David Berdon and Company. I had my stuff in during August and then someone in my wife's family sued them. It had nothing to do with me, but I was told that they would not file my return unless I signed a document saying that I, on turn, would not sue them.

Well, I had nothing to sue them for, so I signed the document and then what happened was they apparently finished my wife's cousin's return but delayed mine. So my return was filed After October 15th and the IRS gave me a lot of heat. If it was not for my wife's family the original David Berdon's grandchildren might be picking up litter in Central Park today.

So several things apply today,

I don't do business with anyone that my wife's family does business with

I don't do business with large accounting firms

and I don't sign anything without a lawyer.

But I do file by October 15th; still fighting to get it to August 15th.

Looking for a comfuter? I got a few nice ones over here last week.
