Andrew,
>> Is there any way to trade Canadian stocks using Etrade? What is the commission? <<
In the post script to my post #311, techstocks.com I said: "I have found that buing LENP (LXPYF) through E*Trade is best accomplished over the phone. Their online price info is way off. Since this is a Canadian BB stock (if you choose to buy LENP instead of LXPYF) there is no extra charge."
Yes, you can buy and sell Canadian securities with E*Trade. With many this is best accomplished over the phone instead via the net, and as far as I know, there is no extra charge (except for penny stocks?). All of my Canadian trades over the phone or net have been for $19.95. All trades are in US dolars. E*Trade's online quotes are often not available or wrong in respect to Canadian issues, which is why phoning, and asking for a current quote works best for me.
Lenox trades on the bulletin boards in the US under the symbol LXPYF. It trades there very very thinly, most days not at all. On the Canadian boards it trades thinly, under the symbol LENP, but more often then in the US, so price is often better. I ask the E*Trade broker to give me LENP quotes, and bid accordingly. The online confirmation then states that I am ordering and purchasing LXPYF, even though I ordered LENP, but that is because all E*Trade records are kept in US symbols. Either way, it's the "same" stock.
Hope this helps,
