GST the Japanese cash wealth and their ability to buy our debt has been a tremendous boon to the US consumers, no doubt. And I believe (i could be wrong here) that the Chinese also own a tremendous piece of our national debt. i really don't think we could have had the last decade that we had without them.

But if saving for a rainy day means living in a declining economy that indefinately lends the benefits of hard work to another country, than maybe there is no sense in saving everything for a rainy day. If the rainy day never comes, then a lot of merchants and others have no jobs and no businesses.
