Oh if only everyone could be just like you Mars. Then the world would be at peace. I am beginning to wonder if you are not seriously Mythtaken.
Btw, as I mentioned, Paul's letter to the Corinthians was dated to around A.D. 55. Serious scholars (Funk and company excluded) have continuously moved the writings of the Gospels back to the point where serious consideration must be given to the claims that these writings are historical eyewitness accounts of actual events. If you take 33A.D. to be the time of the crucifixion, then that does not allow enough time for significant mythtification, since too many people were around to dispute the accounts. The earliest arguments against the resurrection were that the disciples stole the body, by bribing the Guards at the tomb, thereby acknowledging that the tomb was empty. It seems to me that the best explanation of that fact is that Jesus did in fact, rise from the dead. What are the earliest dates for the writings of Buddha? How do we know that they are not merely mythological? Are there credible, Eyewitness accounts of this event? Let's see them.
It is very interesting to see the different reactions to miraculous accounts of Buddha vs those of Jesus. When Buddha is portrayed as doing these things it is "COOL", but if Jesus is portrayed as doing similar things,(not that I would put them in the same league) they are immediately attacked as Myths and superstitions. The real problem, as far as I can see is that Jesus says there is going to be an accounting for this life, (Judgement) The Smiling Buddha just says, essentially, Don't worry be happy. This is an upbeat and positive message that demands nothing from the individual. It is little wonder that it is gaining popularity in North America. The real question remains, Is it True?
