Yes, people who believe that we could create a Fed that could prevent what we are going through are mistaken. People who believe that simply leaving it up to the free market are also mistaken. They are both implying that we would eliminate ugly bear markets and sharp declines -- in other words, eliminate unspeakable risk -- we'd have a money tree.

(The down move I was talking about in the teeny timeframes is coming, sort of, but it's too slow to interest me and confirm the count I'm tracking -- i.e., it makes me skeptical that it will continue.)
