WEST WARWICK, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 1997--Astro-Med,
Inc. (NASDAQ: ALOT), West Warwick, R.I. today introduced the world's
first portable eight channel recorder with a 10.4 inch active color
monitor that displays waveforms in real time.
Each waveform can be color coded for quick identification, and
whenever the signals exceed preset limits, the waveforms
automatically change color, instantly alerting the user to areas of
interest.
Designated the Dash 8, the recorder is ideally suited for
acquiring, viewing, and printing data in demanding applications in
the aerospace, telecommunications, automotive, pulp and paper,
metals manufacturing, steel mills, electric utility, medical, and
other industrial, scientific, and educational fields. The compact
Dash 8, built into a rugged cast aluminum case and weighing less
than 20 lbs, is easy to carry to any test site.
The Dash 8 Field Recorder(TM) offers a host of outstanding
features including 1 Gigabyte internal hard drive, DSP (digital
signal processing) for programmable filtering, and a built-in 100
Megabyte removable Zip(TM) drive for data transfer and archiving.
The Zip drive is also convenient for downloading software updates
and test setups. The recorder displays data in real time at
frequencies to 2 kHz. The Dash 8 has an input range of 50 mV to 500
V full scale and the convenient cursor feature provides
instantaneous measurements of frequency and other parameters
automatically. The unit records voltage, current, temperature,
strain, pressure, and more. It can also capture data to the
internal 1 Gigabyte drive, which can then be transferred to the Zip
drive for archiving or further analysis on a computer.
Priced at $9,950, the Dash 8 will be available for delivery
beginning in September. Astro-Med is now accepting orders for this
powerful new recorder. Full details are available from Astro-Med
Inc., Astro-Med Industrial Park, West Warwick, R.I. 02893. Phone
