I have some limited experience with Open Environment Corp (OEC) products. I looked at their product about 18 months ago, so this may be dated. What they mainly offered was a DCE implementation environment. On the client side they provided an easy-to-use API to write DCE client side programs and on the server side (NT/UNIX) they supplied their implementations of DCE servers and services (txn management, security etc.). Since DEC never really caught on with the mainstream client-server app developers , I am a little surprised that BORL decided to acquire them. Does does have any relevance to inernet/intranet? OPEN also acquired Jarrah Tech, an australian company which developed Gupta's SQLWindows repository. This acquisition makes absolutely no sense to me. Due to these reasons i do not think this will do BORL any good. good.
