Brom, interestingly, CNBC keeps insisting (frequent comments are made by Hair One to that effect) that their objectivity is proven out by the amount of hate mail they get from both bulls and bears.

however, anyone even remotely aware of the basic tools employed in propaganda, and aware of the vested interests involved, must realize that this is simply untrue.

we are luckily not (yet) in a totalitarian society, and thus able to speak our mind. but the media have by and large deteriorated into a subtle propaganda instrument that is very effectively used for mass manipulation. certainly the average Joe has been talked into riding this bear down with his nest egg, as the commonly heard tune remains that one must stay invested in stocks come hell or high water, because "it's impossible to time the market" (BIG lie), and "it always goes up in the long term" (harrumph...it can be VERY long, as history proves, ESPECIALLY after huge secular bull markets/manias conclude).
