four computers in a "network" is not the same as a quad processor box. Then again, since AMD doesn't know anything about SMP it appears you don't either.

You're right again. 4 networked computers is better, because they can run different OS'es and don't have contention for resources.

that sun machine you're complaining about probably is capable of 24-36GB of RAM.

OK. Throw in another $20K for the ridiculously priced Sun memory.

You are sorely mistaken if you think Linux is "better" than Solaris.

Boy am I stupid. I forgot that I like having the Solaris man pages which can't scroll up, the primitive versions of most system binaries (which haven't been improved in ten years), and I hate all of the great shell features on Linux and easy connectivity to Windows machines.

Sorry Eric, Sun is the Apple of the Workstation world. They had a huge lead, and they blew it.
