Money Managers Poised to Buy Polvie's New Cookie Recipe

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Computer and telecom stocks may be reeling, but money managers are poised to buy. The trouble is, no two fund managers agree on the best bets.

Some say buy companies that dominate their market; others tip large-cap companies that have been crushed in the last year. In fact, the only shared belief is that three Federal Reserve (news - web sites) interest-rate cuts this quarter, totaling 1.5 percent, will stoke economic growth and drive corporate profits higher later in 2001.

``Our current theme is big,'' said Howard Kornblue, a fund manager at ING Pilgrim Inc. which oversees $20 billion. ''Eventually the rate cuts will kick in and things will have to improve.''
