I would have thought that weak Q1 and Q2 should already been factored in the stock price. However, on each report of poor earnings, stocks fall further. I'd like to see the sort of brief climate in early January where stocks were resilient to poor earnings report. Even then, it was only a brief respite, which was not able to weather continuous earnings downgrades.

Rather than buying calls, how about writing calls and earning the premium? I was thinking of buying the stock and selling a call on next bounce. April 30 call sells at $3.00. That's a nice premium considering only 3 weeks to expiration. So, say buy stock at $30 tomorrow. Wait for stock to bounce to $33. Sell 1 month call at $33 strike price for $3.50. If stock falls below $33, profit $3.50. If stock goes beyond $33, profit $6.50
