catlady only reason i'm looking in naviscope's direction is due to crow's comment... "By using Naviscope and the "next" feature with this, I am able to save 1000 messages on SI in the 10 a time mode in about 20 minutes". i have cable modem and have never felt inclined to speed things up, fortunately. and i'm not even clear about the role that naviscope is playing in the scenario that crow has outlined above. i'm perusing the naviscope site right now and checking some reviews. the message boards are someplace between hilarity and horror naviscope.com (some amazing flames there, if nothing else <g>) my gut feeling at this moment is that naviscope is a bit intrusive, as far as altering settings and requiring special configuring. and i wouldn't be surprised if steve gibson has it pegged as spyware, but that's just a wag. thanks for your reply :) mark
