1014 [Dow Jones] PCCW (0008) will focus on subscriber-based revenue model for NOW instead of Internet advertising, says Chairman Richard Li at 4-hour analyst meeting yesterday. Analysts expect ailing operations to scale back further in future; one analyst says move to subscriber-based revenue model ""a step in the right direction but the company will have to take a lot of steps in that direction"" for investors to return. However, for such a revenue model to work, PCCW will have to get more localized contents for which people are willing to pay.(STT)
