StartEasy.com Announces Adoption of Go2Net's Search Technology
StartEasy.com's Web Search Powered by Go2Net's Metasearch Engine Dogpile

TORONTO - (Aug. 17, 2000) - StartEasy.com (www.starteasy.com) today unveiled its privately-branded search solution, powered by Go2Net, Inc. (Nasdaq: GNET), one of the Internet's leading providers of applications and infrastructure technologies for both narrowband and broadband devices.

Available at www.starteasy.com, StartEasy's search capability is powered by Go2Net's Dogpile (www.dogpile.com), one of the leading metasearch services on the Web, and extends Go2Net's metasearch technology platform to an additional 300,000 unique users per month. Metasearch services enable Internet users to simultaneously query multiple individual search engines, presenting simple, comprehensive lists of results. Go2Net, which develops search technologies for its own network and for license to strategic partners, such as StartEasy, provides several options for companies' Web search needs.

"Search is consistently recognized as the critical application in Web usage," said Steve Goldberg, senior VP of Go2Net's Consumer Division. "Internet businesses without search are harder pressed to keep users at their sites. Go2Net's search technology is designed to help great sites like StartEasy meet this challenge."

"We determined that a powerful search tool would not only draw our visitors back, but complement our existing offerings," said Thomson H. Dam, president of StartEasy.com. "We decided to go with Go2Net's privately-branded metasearch technology, because of the company's leadership in the metasearch sector, and its reliable, efficient and accurate results."
