the market has grown much more comfortable with the cyclicality of their business due to this being the 3rd downturn in 5 years--AMAT has shown how well they can weather the storm whereas CSCO has not.

I don't believe the market is questioning whether CSCO can weather the storm; they are one of the best capitalized companies in techville. What we are seeing IMO are people(CSCO shareholders) who have never really been through a downturn like we(AMATers) have. The first reaction is to sell first and ask questions later. However, since this is what most everyone else is doing it is by definition herd mentality and foolish. They have seen a decade of growth without pause. They are now learning that the pauses can hurt.
