GTSI Receives Notice to Proceed From Army On $857 Million MMAD-1 Contract
CHANTILLY, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 2001--GTSI(R) Corp. (Nasdaq:GTSI) today announced that the Army Communications and Electronic Command (CECOM) has given the Company a "Notice to Proceed" on the MMAD-1 (Maxi-Minis and Databases) Contract.

The notice to proceed was issued following the GAO's decision in favor of GTSI and CECOM which recommended that, "...the agency leave the contract in place, and permit GTSI to compete with the other awardee, IBM..." The Notice to Proceed reflects the Army's implementation of the GAO decision.

"Under the contract we now have 60 days to complete the post-award startup and begin accepting orders," said Joel Lipkin, Senior Vice President of Sales and Customer Support. "I believe that we'll perform substantially ahead of that schedule and begin offering government agencies high-end UNIX computing, networking and enterprise storage solutions to meet their world wide requirements."

The contract will deliver leading-edge Compaq Alpha UNIX workstations and servers, Cisco and 3Com networking products, and a wide range of technical services delivered by GTSI and subcontractors.

GTSI will begin marketing the contract at the Army World-wide DOIM Conference in Nashville, TN April 9-12.

MMAD-1 is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with a two-year base period with three one-year options for a total of five years. GTSI's award value was $857 million, if all options are exercised by the government.

Although the contract was awarded by the Army, the Navy and IRS were also instrumental in requirement development and contract award In addition, MMAD-1 is open to all agencies within the Federal government, including DOD and civilian as well as foreign military sales.

Except for historical information, all of the statements, expectations and assumptions contained in the foregoing are "forward-looking statements" (within the meaning of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995) that involve a number of risks and uncertainties.

It is possible that the assumptions made by management including, but not limited to, the revenues estimated for the contract, may not materialize. Actual results may differ materially from those projected or implied in any forward-looking statements.

In addition to the above factors, other important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially are those listed in the Company's most recent report on Form10-K and included from time to time in other documents filed by the Company with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

GTSI is the most experienced business to government (B2G) marketer of information technology solutions to Federal, state and local government customers worldwide. Profitable and growing, GTSI is headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and offers access to 150,000 products from more than 2,100 manufacturers.
