Thread, I'd like to hear from either AMD & INTC Threadsters that express their thoughts and strategies both intelligently, and constructively, and politely. Willcousa's post is a good example of all of these items. (Kapkan, I would recommend you read his post for an example of a polite style.)
Thread, let's get a strategy discussion going. There are methods to increase a person's cash position and positions in a variety of stocks. To do this, a person can write covered calls or create a collar.
I think the collar and covered call writing is an incredibly powerful technique for increasing ones stock positions in both new and old stocks as well as increasing ones cash position, especially in a declining market. I have to thank several people on this thread for sharing their strategies on this.
In my case, doing this resulted in a 25% position increase of a variety of high-tech stocks and it also generated cash through premiums approximately 10%. My strategy favors the long-term, which means fluctuations in my portfolio are acceptable to me, as long as I'm building it up for the long-term.
Here's the deal: it's good to do a short-term collar on some shares when the stock price was 37, but it's not a strategy I'm inclined to do right now given the risk of getting called. Suggestions? (Constructive ones only) Thread, what are you folks doing at this point though?
Talk to you all later.
