I read this on briefing.com:

Apparently they think that Iomega is in a price war with the syquest 230 mb drive. It makes sense to cut the price on the zip drive to compete against a faster and larger drive.

"Despite heavy trading volume, stock of disk maker has, breaking with custom, maintained a tight range today. Since stocks extremely active Friday, investors are starting to settle down a bit today, on news that the company will offer mail-in rebates on its storage products. Following-up on its stated desires to increase market penetration, IOMG is offering until Sept. 15 a $50 rebate on its Zip drives and $20 on other popular brands. Company is currently engaged in a pricing war with SyQuest (SYQT 8 1/4 +3/8), which has introduced a removable-cartridge hard drive in order to compete with IOMG. Fact that Iomega is cutting prices is not hurting stock today, as perception seems to be that cost savings will cause consumers to ignore SYQT's more expensive, but faster EZFlyer 230 MB drive."

This maybe old news by now, if so apologies.
