It's all goes back to perception Frank, be it macro, micro the perception of the fundamentals real or made to fit will drive the psychology surrounding the stock or the market as whole. When you have CSCO still sporting a valuation that is greater then GM and F combine even after all the selling that has happen, in an environment that is hazy for months out, one can't expect much movement to the plus side till the picture is clearer. You can dive in dissect and know everything about a company and sector, but when you get right down to it, the time will be wasted if too many months past, and the sector or the style of investing moves away from what you have learned. The investors that will survive this bear, will be the ones that are open to the changes that are happening with-in the market and can understand what will emerge after the bear is done.
