JDN: lack of buyers now is not because people are afraid to pay tax.

It's because they are afraid to attract the benefits of unlimited future capital loss carryover! Joe Public has recently discovered that buying a five dollar bill for the measly price of $100 is less of a good investment than it was a year ago.

Even priced at $20 he's a little sceptical.

Heck, you might even see a liquidity problem until such time as these bills are selling for book value for all I know.

There are the same number of buyers as there ever were. Only they aren't buying at these prices any more.

What will bring liquidity back to the market is not some air compressor social program to re-inflate this half deflated bubble. Nor will public floggings of central bankers. Or any of the other schemes you propose.

What will bring back liquidity is a rational cost structure.

Sadly facts.
