Today was a terrible day.
I was out of control.
I have been trading options on the indexes. It is not for the fainthearted nor is it for the emotionally unstable; I should not be playing-- I will leave you to judge into which category I fall.

Today I went to buy some options and the order wouldn't go through. Now, I don't know about how other people do this, but these things reverse in a second- and I am frantic when I am in the middle of trying to do a quick turn. I started hitting keys and screaming, and then I rebooted and the screen said- "can't find File 1046"

Well, don't whine to me. I didn't take it.

So I typed- "ignore that file" and NOTHING HAPPENED.
No internet.
I panicked.
I called CW, whose roomie answered. "He's asleep," said roomie.
"this is an emergency! WAke him up!" I cried.
"oooo-kaaay," Roomie said doubtfully. He must have had the phone with him becuase he said, "The door's locked."
"Well, KNOCK on it!" (I thought Rice is supposed to be a school for very bright kids)

"I'll have to pound on the walls. He sleeps in the closet."

It is a measure of my insane obsession that I didn't even blink at that and I still don't know the answer so don't ask. "Great, do it."
"Well, I'll have him call you."
IN a few minutes, the phone rings. I grab it- "What's wrong with this computer!" I scream into it.
Luckily it was CW.
Well, it sort of was.
He isn't at his best in the morning.
"How do I know?" he said, rather rudely.
"Because we pay huge amounts of money to that school so that you WILL know!"
He was wonderful, he really was, and he figured out that I had deleted a disk drive, alhtough I vehemently and still do deny it. Of course, he couldn't fix it, because it was gone. He spoke over my sobs about 40K dollars worth of worthless puts alone in the world without my guiding hand to lead them to profitability. "Go use someone else's computer."

So I thought yeah! Jan! ANd I called but her line was busy, so I figured she was home, and I threw some clothes on and drove fast and NO ONE ANSWERED THE DOOR. So I drove faster home and sobbing I called the cable people. He was very nice. He went through all these procedures and then he said,
"You are missing a driver."
Well, duh.
"Get your driver disk and we'll reload it."
What driver disk?
"We gave you one when we installed your cable modem."
No you didn't.
"Well, we can try some other things"
Which we did- erasing a great deal of stuff that I know is going to really upset CW because I think it was all the connecting stuff that hooks me to the upstairs computers. But it still didn't work.
"I'll have to set up a technician to come out and reinstall you." he said finally, giving up. "I;m really sorry."
I am moaning and weeping.
While he puts me on hold, I start going through a pile of crap on the credenza and guess what I find?
hehehe.
ooops.
I wait through three tapeloops of why Charter Cable is the best and then tell him, now that he's gotten me all scheduled, that I found the Driver Disk.
We install it.
It works.
I was too excited to be hooked up again to feel too much embarrassment.
But now it's 11:00 and that was only the beginnning-
However, I am so exhausted from reliving this terrible morning, that I can't write any more.
