There are so many varables. The stocks one picks, take a SP-500 stock that goes between 40 and 60 for a couple of years, while that is a 50% range it is a range. put a trending indicator on it and results may not seem as good as a ranging indicator might show. Stocks have different cycles, the period chosen may match or be at opposites. The amount of data is a key element, put a 134TSF on a 2 year chart and you eat up over 6 months to get started your first signal might not come for another 3 months; nearly 1/2 of data time meant nothing. Then you might compare it to a 21 day indicator that caught the moves of the first year.

There will be alot to talk about on system tests in NJ. There won't be absolute answers, but we might throw light on a often misunderstood area.

Too many compare a system to a holy grail rather than other known systems. Then they fail to compare important elements like time in trades, drawdown, avg win/avg loss. It goes on and on.
