The deficit increased in the 80s because of an increase in
social spending. The revenue from taxes greatly increased during the 80s but government spending increased faster.

Re: 2. Environmental regulation will be gutted.

I think the chance of this happening is not much above 0%. I do however think that the chance for new major environmental laws or regulation, that increases the power and extent of government control in this area, is very low.

Re: 3. Bush is clueless about the rest of the world. He doesn't even know who the Prime Minister of Canada is. He will try to manage global crises without the faintest understanding of the people he is dealing with.

We probably will just have to agree to disagree on this one.
