IMO, that guys a smuck, and remember who he works for, a hedge fund. In Euroland, in particular, where collusion and subsidy is a religion, the carriers will miraculously survive and thrive through government assistance or price fixing. Just ask the French farmers...
Here in the US, there is plenty of capital. If one business model fails, there's the next. In T's case, their mobile network is a collection of franchises, and they all don't share the same financial predicament. Someone will come in and pick up the pieces.
In order to determine the true state of the industry, you need to determine many more things other than debt, although I'm sure debt to equity ratio's have risen.
It's a difficult market for the industry, but it's not like it's customers are going away, there's negative growth, it's products are obsolete, or the world is in a depression..... |
